Homewood band will make their music count in 10-hour charity marathon

As live music finally begins to come back for audiences all over the country, one Homewood band is aiming to make their music count for a very special reason.

On Saturday 12th June, five-piece Year 10 group Band Panic will be undertaking a 10-hour endurance music marathon to raise money for Demelza Hospice Care For Children.

The group was inspired to fundraise for the charity after being part of an Acts of Kindness initiative at the school and meeting one of the children from the Demelza hospice last year, when they learned about the amazing support that it provides to children and their families in Kent, East Sussex and South East London.

The challenge will involve the band playing, performing, jamming and rehearsing for 10 hours straight (with minimal breaks) from 8am until 6pm in the school’s Sports Hall.

Band Panic, which formed in Year 8, is: Josh (lead guitar), Jensen (drums), Tusniwun and Olivia on vocals and Aaron on sound/backing tracks. Their repertoire is mainly pop rock but also includes covers from a range of different genres. The five-piece has also begun writing their own material and will be premiering their first ever home-grown composition, entitled ‘Happy Belated’, during the marathon.

Unfortunately, due to continuing Covid guidance for schools, they will not be able to have a live audience present, but will instead post updates throughout the day on their Instagram page @bandpanic

Principal Jeremy Single said: “I am really proud that Josh, Jensen, Tusniwun, Olivia and Aaron have decided to take on such a big challenge and wish them all the very best of luck.  I also think it is incredibly admirable that they have been inspired to raise money for such a fantastic cause.  They are a very talented band and we are all really looking forward to seeing them perform!”
