Teacher of Construction/Design Technology specialising in Woodwork
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Applied Learning Team delivering theory and practical lessons in construction and the construction industry as a whole, teaching 14-18 year old full-time students. Having a main skill and certificated trade qualification is also desirable, be it in woodwork, brick etc. and being able to deliver a range of skills would be essential to support the learners to complete 3 practical skills in different specialisms.
We currently deliver the WJEC Level 1/2 Award In Constructing the Built Environment, but are looking to develop and expand in to the City and Guilds Diploma course with the right candidate. The courses consist of a number of practical and theory based units, covering the industry as a whole and specialising in the following practical units: roofing, brickwork, and carpentry.
The successful candidate would ideally have City and Guilds assessor levels 1 and 2 qualifications to support with delivering the diploma. Level 3 would be desirable. We are ideally looking for someone with experience in woodwork and/or in the brickwork area. Having a main skill and certified trade qualification is desirable and the ability to deliver a range of skills will be essential to support the learners to complete 3 practical skills in different specialisms. Depending on the skills of the successful applicant part of the role will require you to deliver and support other practical areas.
While teaching, assessor and verifier qualifications would be desirable they are not essential. A candidate with the ability to encourage young people in their learning is essential.
