Message about wearing face masks in school
As a result of the Government’s recent update regarding the wearing of face masks in schools, and following our latest risk assessment meeting in school, please see below the Homewood response at this stage:
Due to the open nature of our school site, and in view of the very restricted movement within buildings and across year group bubbles during the school day, we have decided that it is not necessary for all staff and students to wear face masks at this stage. However, if wearing a face mask, or any form of PPE, reduces staff and students’ anxieties, then these items can be worn. Parents are asked to ensure that their children have a clean and appropriate face mask with them for each day, in case the need arises for them to wear one. Should the local area be classified as ‘high risk’, then, following Government advice, all staff and students will be required to wear face masks. This situation will continue to be monitored closely.
As you continue to prepare for your children to return to school, the Department of Education recommends that parents visit gov.uk/backtoschool for information and practical guidance to help you with your planning. This includes the latest update to the guidance for parents and carers on what they need to know about early years providers, schools and colleges in the autumn term.
