A message from Sally Lees, CEO of the Tenterden Schools Trust
To all our Parents/Carers
I write to you at a very challenging time for us all. None of us have experienced a situation like this before, normal life has been turned upside-down and many of you will be facing very difficult circumstances. We face so much uncertainty about the future and the question of how schools will work going forward is part of this uncertain picture.
I expect many of you will have watched the Prime Minister’s address to the nation last night. You will have heard the Prime Minister setting out the government’s conditional plan for starting to ease the restrictions of lockdown. This included a possible phased re-opening of schools for certain year groups from 1st June. I realise that this announcement will raise many questions for parents. You will be wondering exactly which children will come back first, how they will be kept safe, how social distancing will be managed and much more.
At the moment, it is not possible for us to give you answers to your questions. However, I do want to give you my absolute assurance that whatever decisions we take as a Trust in the days and weeks ahead, the safety and well-being of your children and our staff will be our first priority.
The government has promised to publish further guidance in the next few days. We will consider it carefully and decide the best way forward for the schools in our Trust. We will only start to make any changes when we are confident that we can do so in a safe and measured way.
In the meantime, there will be no changes to the provision which is already in place. The Homewood school site will remain open for children of key workers from all our Trust schools and we continue to support all our other pupils remotely, as we have done over the past few weeks.
I appreciate all that you are doing to support your children with their learning at home. It has felt like a real partnership between school and home as we have worked together through these unique and challenging times. Please be assured that we will continue to work closely with you and keep you fully informed as plans develop for the next phase in this journey.
