Principal’s Letter 20th March 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following on from the latest Government advice, we are now working hard to finalise plans for next week. Please be reassured that our staff are doing all they can to plan for the opening of the school for children of key groups identified by the Government. However, it must be stressed that every child who can be safely cared for at home should be. The fewer children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society.

The definitive list of children that we can currently provide supervision for can be found on the following website:

A summary of these workers are:

  • Health and social care
  • Education and childcare
  • Key public services
  • Local and national government
  • Food and other necessary goods
  • Public safety and national security
  • Transport
  • Utilities, communication and financial services

If you think that you fall within the critical categories above, you should confirm with your employer that, based on their business continuity arrangements, your specific role is necessary for the continuation of this essential public service.

In addition to these, provision will be made for children who have a social worker or have a current EHCP.

For parents/carers who are eligible, and are in need of this supervision, please could I ask you to email by 3pm today so that we can gauge how many students will be in the school during this time.  Please also provide evidence that you work in one of these categories. Examples of this could include:

  • Salary slip
  • Letter of appointment
  • Work email address (NHS / Police, etc.)
  • Letter from employer
  • Copy of photo ID

Children who do not fall into the groups listed above should remain at home with appropriate care.

Thank you once again for your continued support.

Yours sincerely

J K Single
