World Challenge trip to Nepal in 2021
You’re invited to attend an information evening to hear about our new and empowering form of experiential learning that’s set to take place in Nepal in 2021.
Over the last few weeks, we have been launching a World Challenge trip to Nepal to students in years 9-12. It wasn’t possible to do an assembly to all students across all of the colleges so we would love to invite you all along to the parent and guardian information evening on 12th February at 18:00 to find out more, this meeting will be held in the Balcony Restaurant.
We’re proud to be partnering with World Challenge to bring this unique experience that will complement school learning, giving our students the opportunity to become true life-learners and global citizens.
For those of you who would like more information prior to the meeting please find a link to your personalised website which has the itinerary, the expedition video and also info on the information evening.
During their 2 weeks on expedition in Nepal they will spend 4 days on project working with an amazing community, based in rural Nepal. Teams will be staying within villages and will be taking part in a combination of hands on tasks (such as building, renovating and helping plant crops alongside experienced builders/farmers) which will be mixed in with learning new crafts. They will also attend a half day responsible travel workshop prior to this to set them up for success.
On the way to Pokhara which is the start point for their trek, they will be taking part in an adrenaline fuelled journey down the Trusili River on a raft, before the final part of the expedition which will see them embarking on a 5 day trek through some stunningly rugged landscapes in the foothills of the Annapurna Range in the Himalayas.
There is the option for the teams to do additional activities, such as boating across Fewa Lake (this isn’t included in the budget), and exploring the sites of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur (these are included in the budget).
Please do come along on the 12th February at 18:00 to find out more about this life changing expedition or you can speak with Ms Chende at the school who is organising the trip.
