Record attendance at Homewood Careers Fair
A record number of students – more than 1,500 – visited the annual Careers Fair at Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre in Tenterden on Monday 15 July.
This year’s fair was also bigger and better than ever with over forty local and national businesses, organisations, education and training providers exhibiting.
Commercial exhibitors included: Brakes, Champneys, EDF Energy, M&G Investments, Network Rail, Premier Foods, Sainsbury’s, Taylor Woodrow and Whitehead Monckton Solicitors.
The public sector was also well represented with Kent Police, the Army, the RAF, and the NHS all taking stands.
The colleges, universities and training providers included: University of Kent, University of Portsmouth, Canterbury Christ Church University, Hadlow College, British & Irish Modern Music Institute (BIMM) and Kent Training & Apprenticeships (KT&A)
In addition to the broad range of external businesses and organisations on show, Homewood School students exhibited their own work to these prospective employers as part of a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) competition.
Every Homewood student was allocated time to visit the Careers Fair throughout the day, including those who have just taken their final exams. They had the opportunity to speak with employers and employees from a variety of industries to quiz them about career opportunities and help them to plan their future career pathway.
The annual Careers Fair is an integral part of Homewood’s structured careers programme which is followed by every student from Year 7 to Year 13.
